Woolgirl Sock Club Part 1

I joined ANOTHER sock club.....Wool Girl Sock Club. This club will be various Indie dyers chosen by Wool Girl to be sent out to all the members. This was such an awesome package. In the first shipment there was a skein of Miss Babs Sport weight yarn, a pattern, a journal, mint lip balm and stitch marker! Good grief.

And another umbilical cord hat :)

This weekend I whipped up this hat for a friends baby who was born on Friday. Sadly though, the little guy went in for a heart surgery and didn't make it. Why? Why? Why?

This is in Jojoland Wool using the Umbilical Cord Hat from Stitch n' Bitch....

It was such a quick mindless knit i made another yesterday using Lorna's Laces Worsted....

Socks that Rock Firebird

I didn't like the colors of this yarn and I didn't like the pattern. When the shipment arrived, I had already made up my mind that I was going to to use the yarn for the pattern that came in the mail. One Solstice Stitch Sock got done but it didn't flow for me. Instead, I made a mismatched sock by using the Monkey Sock Pattern from Cookie A! I knew I wouldn't wear these out and about because they were just too dang bright! Kind of fun, right?
Here is the Solstice Stitch Sock. I like the way it looked, it just seemed to drag on forever!

First pair of Monkey Socks

This is the first pair finished. I'm knitting another pair with the yarn I got from the Socks that Rock club. I frogged the Solstice Slip sock to knit another pair of Monkey socks.

Star Hat

Just an FYI, this is my nephew. Not a girl. My sister wanted to pass that on. William doesn't wear purple but I volunteered him to model this finished hat for a friend's baby girl to be! This pattern and yarn is from the LYT Tour I blogged about previously. This is the 3rd pattern/yarn used/finished from the tour.

Flower Power

Here is the fourth shipment of Socks that Rock from the sock club. I don't know if anyone else is part of the both this club and Yarn Pirate's club, but I opened this package and immediately thought to myself how similar this is to the Yarn Pirate's Rum Runner!!

Here's a another Newsboy Cap from Stitch n' Bitch. Simple pattern with a pleasing end result!

Pattern: Headline Newsboy Cap
Source: Stitch n' Bitch
Yarn: Lion Brand Cotton Ease
Made for: Little friend of mine. She loved the other one I made so she requested one for herself!
Needle Size: Size 8 Size 10.5
Date Started: July 2007
Date Completed: July 2007

The following is the Ruffles and Ridges Wrap from Fiber Trends. This was my first "garment" although I'm not sure if it counts as one. I hate it.
Pattern: Ruffles and Ridges
Source: Fiber Trends
Yarn: Crystal Palace Merino Stripes
Made for: Me!
Needle Size: Size 10
Date Started: Jan 2007
Date Completed: Feb 2007
The back looks cool but since the wrap is edged with ruffles it doesn't lay right in the front. And it's too big! I want to frog this but do you know how many stithces I had to cast on with?? Over 1000! It took me hours to even start this project!
I've been looking online to see if anyone else has used this Merino Stripes from Crystal Palace so I could get some pattern ideas. No such luck. Any suggestions? I was thinking just a basic rectangular shawl or maybe a Clapotis.

And the following are from Knitty. The fuzzy feet pattern. If you want to practice making socks, these are a good start. All you do with these is make a big sock on bigger needles with wool, felt them and these are the end result. You'll never know if you dropped a stitch or didn't turn the heel properly.

Yarn: Lamb's Pride Worsted Wool

Yarn Pirate Booty Club #2.....

has a arrived in the color called Calamity. It's beautiful! The colors are green, blue, purple and white. 420 yds Superwash BFL. Can someone tell me if I'm right in thinking that this well be self striping??? Pattern ideas? Jaywalkers will work but I'm already making a pair of those. I just got it today so I still have a day or two to decide what pattern to use.

Retro Redux Shrug Part One

Finally here are some pictures of the Retro Redux Shrug from Lace Style.

I love this one so much, I'm making a second one in black! It's an easy knit using mutltiple needle sizes. It's a tad tight in the arms but I think the yarn I used wasn't the right gauge which was my fault for not swatching! Pattern: Retro Redux Shrug

Yarn: Cascade 220

Made for: Me!Needle

Size: Multiple

Date Started: Sometime in May

Date Completed: June 2007

And here's the second one almost finished using Cascade Cotton Rich in black!

This was obviously a piece of cake to knit. Very basic. It went quickly b/c it was fun to see the pattern evolve! My 2nd FINISHED pair of socks!! This was taken at my cabin. Too bad the photographer didn't move my foot so we could get Mt. Baker in!!!

On the Needles and Some Booty!

Here's what came in the mail the other day for the Yarn Pirate Booty Club.....Kneeshighs are the plan. I finished my first Retro Redux Shrug from Lace Style the other day. I'm waiting for someone to be around to take a photo of the finished product. In the meantime, last night I casted on another one in black! It's a quick knit. Easy lace and the end product is cute!!
I planned on knitting the Summertime Tunic for Interweave Knits Summer 2007. But it's so boring! It's just dragging on and on. I have a feeling this will never get finished. Using Cotton Ease.
And here's a Monkey. My first Monkey. Using Cherry Tree Hill in Foxy Lady. I used Size 2 circs on the cuff and will use Size 1 for the foot.
Finally, my first Rockin' Sock Club June 2007. I used the called for pattern on the cuff in size 1 circs. The foot is plain old stockinette! Now I'm casting on the 2nd one. I hope to actually finish before the next round of club yarn comes my way. This was the first sock pattern I used from them. Yea for me!

Ampersand Socks and Top Down Baby Sweater

First pair of socks!! Since then I have knitted one Jaywalker using STR Silkie Walking on the Wild Tide and basic stockinette socks using Online Summer Socke. I will post the Online sock in the next couple of days. They are finished just no picture yet!! Now for the Ampersand sock, this was such an easy pattern to use for the first sock. I know I'll use it again but next time with size 2 circs for a tighter fit.
